Carpet Moths

These tend to be the most common Moth pest to be treated in UK homes.

After mating the female lays up to 40-50 eggs in quiet undisturbed areas around the room, under furniture, rugs and in wardrobes for its life time of 4-6 days.

Once the Larvae hatch they can happily eat their way through natural fibres such as woollen and Silk carpets and rugs, clothing and fabrics for up to 3 months leaving bold carpets under furniture and along skirting boards, holes in your woollen jumpers if its natural they will eat it!

The larvae, then pupates for up to 9-19 days and produces the moths that you will see, with the cycle starting again if not treated.

Signs of infestation:

  • Firstly, seeing the adult moths.
  • Bold patches of carpet along the skirting boards and under furniture.
  • Small holes in clothing especially woollens and silks natural fibres.
Oriental & German Cockroaches

There are over 4000 different species of cockroaches worldwide but mainly have German and Oriental species in the UK, these tend to spend their days hidden away in their harbourage grouped together but come out at night to feed and are omnivorous that feed on conventional foodstuffs but also cannibals and feed on each other which is how we win the battle against cockroaches by using a baits that kill the cockroach are then eaten by their ‘friends’ which the bait causes secondary poisoning and so on, this teamed with a residual insecticide spray works on solving the infestation but it can be a lengthy process.

Hygiene is upmost in preventing a cockroach infestation and disposal of contaminated food stuffs is advised, professional pest control is the only way to control and eradicate a problem in your home or business premises.

Insects – Casual Intruders

Insects that come into our homes once in a blue moon and are not classed as a “Pest” as such, these include Spiders, Silverfish, Woodlice and Earwigs these can be treated but often can be eradicated with environmental changes such as reducing humidity and cleaning.

Phobias can cause a lot of distress especially spiders, preventative treatments are available, we have regular customers that have their homes sprayed every September once they see a spider in their home.

Ladybirds

They come in to our homes when we start having frosts to overwinter/hibernate and has been a long established problem originally with sash window casings and now with our modern UPVC window frames people are now noticing them more and are becoming a problem smelling, leaving stains on the UPVC and unsightly they can be removed and treated with a residual insecticide.
